Resignalling works 2009
The original semaphore signals were replaced around 1970 with colour lights. The Swan and the Hallougten Grange Bridge signals remaining as the posts but converted to hold three aspect colour lights. The Swan even had a working feather junction light until the sealing up of the passing loop in the 1980s - see info here - These colour lights were in turn replaced with more modern signalling and the one on the up line was moved nearer to Halloughten Grange bridge depriving the author of his childhood spot for watching the trains stop!
The work was done overnight in almost silence as I never heard them working at all.
